Description

Southland Kindergarten Association purchased half of the block of Kerr Bush in 2014 and have a successful Bush Kindergarten programme running daily. Children explore the area looking for plants, birds, and bugs, they also experience planting new seedlings and they have opportunity to learn about pests and pest control. Myross Bush Landcare Group, in conjunction with Myross Bush School, is currently planting to help regenerate the bush area after holly and sycamore has been removed.

Historic involvement

Myross Bush Landcare Group, in conjunction with Myross Bush School, began helping with the management of the privately owned Kerr's Bush in 2008. Having gained Biodiversity Condition Fund grant, significant control of large sycamore was undertaken and replanting in cleared areas followed this. Currently, work is continuing around replanting and filling in the gaps with more plants, to ensure a healthy native forest.
